Can we set expectations that we are only talking about open TLDs or those that otherwise rely on distribution. Brand TLDs are not being addressed.

When it comes to automated testing, a 5 minute phase is really too long.

It would also be nice to have a repository of registrars with a dataset definition which can be used and accessed by (new) ROs in the upcomming round

+1 Rubens, we don't want to stifle innovation in the quest for simplicity. simplification is admirable. How can we do both?

Can we break this up into purely administrative simplification (lists of things, maybe reports) and things that are more substantive? I like Jeff’s characterization of “tips for how to get more Registrars” that way ROs that want that sales model can easily see the roadmap.

Not only does a poll message allow us to automate communication within the company, it also allows us to automate progmatic things such as systems monitoring. If we get an EPP message telling us that a registry will be down at a certain time, we don’t have to sound the alarm if EPP stops responding. It’s very easy to parse messages like that in EPP and very hard to parse them in email.
