@Maureen - for Oceania, at least 12 economies are hosting root servers (either IMRS or other root server alphabet). Oceania at last count has about 37 instances and I’ll continue to work with other economies (yes - network operators to express an interest to host).

There are around ~200 root server instances in the APAC

ALAC does have members who are technical, but it is not a technical group. That said, DNS Abuse is one of its top priorities

Within the At-Large community we have a consolidated policy working group that meets weekly to discuss policy issues. It is packed with US and European participants and very few Asia Pacific participants which is really sad because the policy issues impact all of us in the Asia Pacific region as well.. for example the .org sale, and subpro discussions

ICANN Learn has some great introductory courses to introduce newcomers to core ICANN and its policy issues

There are some brilliant young ICANNers coming through from APIGA etc

APIGA was the inital event which smoothly brought me into ig community! hopefully we would be able to held apiga this year again and bring more youth in the community!!!:)

The APRALO sessions have an Apac interest.so if community members from the region participate it helps to discuss our issues, perspectives and suggestions

ICANN Learn has launched DNS and Policy Fundamentals, two new courses for newcomers that aren’t geared toward particular SOACs but that can be generally useful for new community members in tandem with the regional programming.

+1 Pam re doing something policy wise at a regional level - THAT needs to be on the regional strategic plan

I am an alternate on the EPDP - but you’re right, the time is VERY unfriendly

Do the webinar etc sessions have to be in English.. can they be in local Asian languages to encourage greater understanding of the issues so that they can contribute somehow..
