Question:Will there be a review of the contacts required and data gathered, to limit how much is minimally required to register a domain?
Ashley La Bolle [Tucows]
48:59
We love the trend of reducing required data to the minimum that serves a clearly defined purpose
Joke Braeken | ccNSO Secretariat
49:35
I saw your question Ashley, will let the session chair know
Ashley La Bolle [Tucows]

@Ashley , we intend to look at the contacts and data collected and determine how much is required for registration of a domain name
Ashley La Bolle [Tucows]

Olusegun Akinwunmi
01:23:18
I just wanted to ask if she can talk about how their security team look like in terms of day to day activities.
Allan MacGillivray
01:23:20
Cath - does Ofcom have an objective standard that they use as the basis for assessing your security posture, and if so, is it available publicly.
Cath Goulding (.uk)
01:26:39
Hi Olusegun - my team is 5 people, there is Head of Operations and 3 analysts that manage things like vulnerabilities, risks, security monitoring, and general queries. I also have an architect who works with developers and devops to ensure our products and services are secure by design.
Olusegun Akinwunmi
01:27:50
Great! Interesting...thank you for the response.
Abdullah Cemil Akcam (.tr)
01:28:29
i suspect UK will pursue a weaker regulation compared to GDPR in the future
Cath Goulding (.uk)
01:28:47
Hi Allen, Ofcom doesn't have anything publically, it was essentially a series of questions that was similar to ISO27001. In future they will be using the NCSC Cyber Assessment Framework - https://www.ncsc.gov.uk/collection/caf/.
Cath Goulding (.uk)
01:31:38
Hi Abdullah, you may be right but we will always need to remain GDPR compliant if we process personal data of EU citizens.
Olusegun Akinwunmi
01:35:12
Hello Alyssa, thank you for the presentation. In your presentation you stated the $80 million dollar budget does part of the budget get to the .ca for cyber security or other activities?
Abdullah Cemil Akcam (.tr)
01:35:18
agreed cath
Joel Karubiu- ccTLD .KE
01:35:28
Interesting that its arms length but still draw funds from a government ministry
Alyssa Quinn (Moore)
01:40:40
Just looked into it - the Privacy Commissioner is an Officer of Parliament, meaning they draw their funding from Parliament. As for that $80 million in government funding, it appears to be earmarked for university research. There may be opportunities for us to partner with some of those universities, but it's not currently in the pipeline. (CIRA's activities are funded entirely through the sale of .CA domains and cyber security services currently.)
Joel Karubiu- ccTLD .KE
01:43:21
Thank you
Olusegun Akinwunmi
01:45:09
