Volker Greimann (RRSG)
28:59
Moving would be appreciated
Sarah Wyld (RrSG / Tucows)
45:36
I do support keeping it at 5 days
Sarah Wyld (RrSG / Tucows)
45:41
(no idea why it was set that way)
Jody Kolker ( RrSG)
46:55
+1.
John Woodworth (ISPCP)
47:00
+1
Sarah Wyld (RrSG / Tucows)
50:07
Yeah 14 days seems good
Sarah Wyld (RrSG / Tucows)
52:15
wouldn't the ttl expire immediately upon use OR when the time period is hit, whichever is first?
Sarah Wyld (RrSG / Tucows)
52:24
(or, I guess it's the TAC that expires)
Volker Greimann (RRSG)
52:29
I do not see a benefit to a ttl
Julie Bisland - ICANN Org
54:13
Reminder: please select Panelists and Attendees in order for everyone to see chat.
John Woodworth (ISPCP)
56:08
Could the AuthCode have the gaining registrar encoded into it ?
Sarah Wyld (RrSG / Tucows)
58:57
Wow John that is a fascinating idea
Sarah Wyld (RrSG / Tucows)
59:22
I do worry that it would add complexity without balancing benefits but I kind of love the idea
James Galvin (RySG - Donuts)
59:31
@john - I would not recommend that. if that’s done it’s less usable by the registrant. also, maybe they don’t want you do know where they are going. it can be done but I’m not sure that’s a good choice, personally.
Jody Kolker ( RrSG)
59:48
+1 Jim
Theo Geurts (RrSG)
01:00:59
yeah registrants also deal with resellers and assume that will be the new registrar, so that will create a lot of overhead
Berry Cobb (GNSO Policy Consultant)
01:01:26
@Volker, you need to accept being promoted to Panelist, please.
Sarah Wyld (RrSG / Tucows)
01:02:00
Maybe we could let the RNH set a shorter TTL but not a longer one...
Sarah Wyld (RrSG / Tucows)
01:02:14
good point re resellers Theo
Steinar Grøtterød, At-Large
01:05:50
@Jim: Thanks
John Woodworth (ISPCP)
01:10:23
Thanks for the feedback! How about a manual revocation ?
Volker Greimann (RRSG)
01:11:56
Any TTL will also cause additional support
Volker Greimann (RRSG)
01:12:08
“Why is my auth-code not working"
Volker Greimann (RRSG)
01:12:56
Ultimately, it is anti-competitive and anti-user friendly. It increases domain stickiness when we should be looking at portability
Steinar Grøtterød, At-Large
01:13:03
High value domain names should be protected by Registry Lock or similar, hence an intense dialog between the registrant/owner and the registrar will be needed to make the label ready for a transfer
Volker Greimann (RRSG)
01:13:17
Steinar+1
Theo Geurts (RrSG)
01:13:26
+1 Steinar, more registry locks :)
Prudence Malinki (RrSG)
01:13:56
+1 Steinar!
Keiron Tobin (RrSG)
01:14:36
Giving everyone time, it wouldn’t be implimented until at least 2023
Theo Geurts (RrSG)
01:24:16
nada
Sarah Wyld (RrSG / Tucows)
01:25:43
Telling providers what their CP access control levels should be feels like a real overstep...
Sarah Wyld (RrSG / Tucows)
01:25:56
it's probably a good idea but I don't know that it belongs here in this pdp
Sarah Wyld (RrSG / Tucows)
01:26:18
thanks Theo, agreed.
Keiron Tobin (RrSG)
01:26:29
+1
Sarah Wyld (RrSG / Tucows)
01:28:35
maybe for now we keep a list of ideas of other security things that don't quite fit into the policy
John Woodworth (ISPCP)
01:29:27
Would it be possible to offer a user-editable field for proof of ownership ?
Sarah Wyld (RrSG / Tucows)
01:29:37
then if someone is interested in writing up a best practices doc we could maybe like... endorse it?
Sarah Wyld (RrSG / Tucows)
01:29:41
someone from this group, i mean
DANIEL K. NANGHAKA (At-Large)
01:30:25
proof of ownership is important
Keiron Tobin (RrSG)
01:41:50
I think we should have various parties involved
Keiron Tobin (RrSG)
01:42:15
If there’s a sub-group
Theo Geurts (RrSG)
01:42:37
There would be a risk that ?echops will deal with a scenario that will not be the end result
zzz Jothan Frakes (Plisk, RrSG, ALT)
