Nathalie Peregrine - ICANN Org
58:42
Sorry you had connectivity issues, Osvaldo!
Osvaldo Novoa
01:00:06
Thank you Nathalie!
Thomas Rickert (ISPCP)
01:01:52
In deed we all need to promote the WDS and „promotional material" needs to be produced to advertise its use and highlight the benefits.
Mark Datysgeld
01:04:21
@Chairs, I will make the briefest statement before vote
Mark Datysgeld
01:10:05
Thank you, Sebastien.
Tomslin Samme-Nlar
01:10:14
that would be helpful @Seb
Marie Pattullo
01:10:27
+1 - that would be great, thanks.

01:20:49
sounds fair to me.
Stephanie Perrin
01:20:55
Thanks Theo, interesting.
Marika Konings - ICANN Org
01:31:40
I believe the Vertical Integration PDP was terminated but that is already a while ago.
Marika Konings - ICANN Org
01:33:50
Actually, more recently, the Council terminated the next generation gTLD Registration Directory Service to replace Whois PDP.
Stephanie Perrin
01:35:17
I was trying not to remember that one Marika……:-)
Marie Pattullo
01:37:11
Excellent point, Susan.
Justine Chew (ALAC/GNSO Liaison)
01:37:41
+1 Marie and +1 Susan (in my personal capacity), also PDP work will be more effectively supported with data/information, preferably obtained early on.
Paul D. McGrady
01:38:01
Susan raises a good point. Maybe punt this one until implementation is done?
Paul D. McGrady
01:42:14
All of that sounds sensible
Susan Payne, Com Laude
01:42:31
thanks John, sounds sensible
Anne Aikman-Scalese
01:45:43
Termination or Suspension of PDP has specific procedures that apply -" In the event that no PDP Team has been formed or there is no recommendation from thePDP Team for a proposed termination or suspension by the GNSO Council, any GNSO Council membermay propose termination or suspension of a PDP. In the case of such a proposal, the GNSO Council willpublicly specify the reasons for the recommended action and will conduct a public comment forum on theproposed termination or suspension prior to conducting the vote."

Good points Theo
Theo Geurts Realtime Register
02:09:15
You always will have unhappy registrants Stephanie :)
Stephanie Perrin
02:10:50
Ah but the question is, do they have the right to be unhappy? Are we fulfilling our responsibilities in setting up a quasi regulatory system if we fail them?
Emily Barabas - ICANN Org

02:12:28
Well my expierence is Stephanie that people who forget to pay their bills usually cry very hard at many levels and shift the blame
Desiree Miloshevic
02:16:12
@Theo @Stephanie - there’s an information and perhaps a policy gap that needs closing between registrars and resellers that would benefit end-users, the registrants
Stephanie Perrin
02:17:06
Certainly that is my thought Des. They lack adequate representation here in that relationship.
Theo Geurts Realtime Register
02:17:18
Desiree, I would agree if compliance had much larger numbers
Paul D. McGrady
02:17:22
It feels like 4 million o'clock in the morning here in Miami. A big thank you to all our Asia/PAC colleagues who take these calls at late hours all the time.
Manju Chen
02:17:23
Thank you Olga for being such a great chair for CCOICI!
Stephanie Perrin
02:17:45
Yes thank you Olga, hard shoes to fill!
Olga Cavalli
02:18:17
Thanks Gnso friends regards to all!!
Marika Konings - ICANN Org
02:18:22
Correct, 20.00 UTC on Tuesday 22 November
Jeff Neuman
02:19:09
I am not in a position to speak, buy i know some have to leave the SPS On Friday, but the important subjects on strategic planning are on that day. Is there any way to move those session to earlier?
Jeff Neuman
02:20:06
The planning of the Council for the year ahead seems like it should be earlier
Marika Konings - ICANN Org
02:20:25
Departures are foreseen for Friday after 17.00
Jeff Neuman
02:20:47
Marika, those are flight times
Jeff Neuman
02:20:52
So, it will be earlier
Jeff Neuman
02:21:15
In any case, saving these subjects to the end, seems counterproductive
Jeff Neuman
02:22:25
I will send an email on this, but i think the planning should be much earlier in the agenda since it is called the Strategic Planning Session :)
Marika Konings - ICANN Org
02:22:30
Departure from the meeting after 17.00, not flight times :-)
Jeff Neuman
02:22:51
@Marika - I suggest you take a poll on that
Jeff Neuman
02:23:11
We did not have start and stop times when we booked flights
Marika Konings - ICANN Org
02:23:55
@Jeff - the agenda follows a similar format as for previous SPS meetings (with the forward planning part towards the end). I believe the start and end times were communicated to Council members.
Kurt Pritz
02:23:57
It seems like Jeff was recommending a slight reorganization of the agenda for a few reasons. @Jeff -Maybe put the recommendation in writing so we can review it
Greg DiBiase (Amazon Registrar)
02:24:44
Thanks Manju!
Paul D. McGrady
02:25:32
My flight leaves at 5:50 (last possible flight to actually get me home by midnight that night) that Friday so will need to be out by 3pm latest I think. Anything we can do to move the most urgent/important items to the top of the agenda is appreciated. Wish I could give more time (which would result in another day) but this session being scheduled in the middle of the Christmas season isn't terribly practical.
Jeff Neuman
02:26:46
I am in the same position as Paul….and Marika, there are very few people (if any) that were on the council the last time there was a F2F SPS, so forgive us for not knowing the format.
Paul D. McGrady
02:27:04
Formats were meant to be changed!
Jeff Neuman
02:28:01
@Paul - given school recesses and that plans for December break vacations are made almost 1 year in advance, i agree ;)
Jeff Neuman
02:31:26
Can we make these terms 2 years for a bunch of these liaison type roles?
Tomslin Samme-Nlar
02:32:06
I can help with fellowship selection committee if needed
Manju Chen
02:32:06
is the mentor and the selection committee member 1 position?
Jeff Neuman
02:32:14
To do it every year seems like we are always in the process of seeking expressions of interests, picking a person, and a few months later starting the process over again
Emily Barabas - ICANN Org
02:32:21
@Manju — they are two different positions
Bruna Martins dos Santos
02:32:27
Different positions
Bruna Martins dos Santos
02:33:44
I also can help with the selection process if needed
Jeff Neuman
02:33:54
Would anyone support making all of these two year positions in the future?
Susan Payne, Com Laude
02:34:20
@Jeff, good point on timing. Perhaps it would make sense for the Mentor to be a two-year appointment
Jeff Neuman
02:34:35
With 11.4, I believe Melissa Algood is sending a note to the Board to get a liaison
Jeff Neuman
02:34:56
So I am not sure this is a topic we really need to discuss since the process has started already
Jeff Neuman
02:35:51
Plus, its not really a council decision to “appoint a Board Liaison” since this is not just a GNSO group
Paul D. McGrady
02:36:45
Seems like Council leadership could just say "of course" to the Board.
Jeff Neuman
02:37:13
Remember the politics of this since it is not a GNSO group
Jeff Neuman
02:37:29
So i do not think the council should be requesting anything
Paul D. McGrady
02:37:33
Great call Seb!
Jeff Neuman
02:37:35
Thanks everyone
Anne Aikman-Scalese
02:37:36
Thanks everyone!
Bruna Martins dos Santos
02:37:36
Thanks everyone!
Justine Chew (ALAC/GNSO Liaison)
02:37:39
Thanks all
Marie Pattullo
02:37:44
Have a great day, al!
Osvaldo Novoa
02:37:52
thank You!!
Desiree Miloshevic
02:37:57
Thank you
