to what Edmond refers to the ALAC lists in its mini site and wiki space all of its previously created and current comments to public comments , working documents developing 'opinion' as well as Advice

57:42
o thats cool cheryl, but i have always advocated one step further, which is for a particular issue pull up those comments/opinions directly relevant to the issue... cause the total repository is often quite volumnious

58:10
o or its already like that for ALAC now?

01:03:06
agree @Maureen

01:04:57
@Edmon an interesting Next Step or adjunct... we must explore that... also noting that the ALACs newish Consolidated Policy Working Group meets weekly and is open to all to attend ... another peer support into Policy opportunity

01:06:03
not intended to come across cynical but % of APAC in GAC, ALS/etc does not always mean same % or proportonal % of participation/speaking/etc

01:06:07
:-P

01:06:27
not that equal speaking time is what i am advocating for :-)

01:06:55
@Edmon, agreed.

01:07:19
Representation and participation are different things

01:08:44
Perhaps we need to work on how comfortable these representatives feel about participating in topic areas that they do not feel adequately informed about.. This is where the capacity building is important.

01:08:57
that is interesting

01:09:10
yes, that should be most effective

01:11:07
i recall getting rinalia up to speed on IDN for example... and enabling her to speak on the issue effectively... definitely a good approach which cheryl suggested

01:11:26
i mean cheryl suggested back then

01:12:10
i’m just wondering Pam, and to all in the call - can fellow community members help you manage so many calls?

01:12:36
Example - imagine we’re all colleagues, if someone can’t join a meeting we usually find someone else to cover. Can this happen in our context?

01:13:14
maybe it can happen at APAC space :-)

01:13:16
+1 about being observer is also important

01:16:06
agree with Maureen s point

01:17:21
absolutely agree @edmon, act regionally for input more generally

01:17:55
and Pam :-)

01:18:36
and we are always willing to help with peer support informally inPDP meetings or more formally

01:19:05
sorry I am not speaking I am actually out of Office

01:19:33
There are many fellows who joined communities and are participating in pdp

01:19:35
problem with "mentoring" is the 1 to few match

01:20:58
well @Pam if more GNSO Councillors we're involved in PDP Meetings 😋 their might know better

01:21:45
As we are not really a verbal community, getting input from community based on documentation might help. e.g. for a certain issue that we need feedback, instead of just ask them to speak, set a few particular clear questions and circulate over email. This way they have more time to process and hopefully overcome some of language barrier , and might also help with time zone.

01:23:35
LOL

01:23:38
@Pam Mentoring matches 1 mentor with 1 or a few people ...it doesn't scale well at all levels of capacity building
