Sam sends regrets… we have a joint conflict and she’s covering one; I’m covering this meeting.

Thanks for picking us, Rick!

Sorry for my delay in joining the call today - hi everyone
Kristine Dorrain (Amazon Registry)
30:53
Glad you can join, Martin! Woohoo for time zone changes!
Martin Sutton, BRG
31:50
indeed!
Rick Wilhelm (Verisign)
47:34
sorry I couldn’t recall exactly which meeting it was where we were f2f
Kristine Dorrain (Amazon Registry)
50:49
thanks Kurt, that helps a lot.
Rick Wilhelm (Verisign)
01:01:23
good point Kristine
Kurt Pritz
01:02:16
To clarify: I was recommending informing the registries that we are in a ‘cone of silence’ discussion with ICANN and are testing these sorts of hypotheses.
Dietmar Lenden - SKY
01:02:53
getting feedback from Samenah on further modelling etc would be good (not maybe getting her to do it yet) and then speak to the RySG and say we can get some more modelling done and go from there
Martin Sutton, BRG
01:03:29
I would prefer to put forward the information to ICANN to test out models and seek their feedback - they may offer further suggestions.
Martin Sutton, BRG
01:04:03
I also think the level of detail is reasonable. None of the data elements and presentation of the data points appears to be contentious, in my view
Kristine Dorrain (Amazon Registry)
01:04:17
@Martin, what's your view on getting RySG input. When should we do that?
Martin Sutton, BRG
01:05:59
@Kristine - after we see the modelling, if it can be prepared. Much easier to reveal a draft output for discussion than the instructions as prepared
Kristine Dorrain (Amazon Registry)
01:06:58
@Martin, no worries that some RYSG will hate it (or that ICANN will just run with it even if we decide it's a bad model)?
Martin Sutton, BRG
01:09:14
@Kristine - I think we should have a final say as to what should progress to full reporting.
Kristine Dorrain (Amazon Registry)
01:09:40
@Martin, I agree, but ICANN might not. :)
Kristine Dorrain (Amazon Registry)
01:10:17
It's always been a concern that something we propose will just get adopted even if it's a bad idea, because someone at ICANN likes it. We're operating under a lot of trust right now.
Rick Wilhelm (Verisign)
01:10:41
Sean… you faded
Rick Wilhelm (Verisign)
01:11:02
just when you said about “the DNS..”
Kristine Dorrain (Amazon Registry)
01:12:19
Does that weaken the value of the persistence bit?
James Galvin (Afilias)
01:13:41
@kristine - yes, that is an issue.
James Galvin (Afilias)
01:14:37
Yes, Rick. The reputation feeds should have a weighted influence on how they are used in DAAR.
James Galvin (Afilias)
01:14:56
We can certainly influence that, I think, with what we are doing here.
James Galvin (Afilias)
01:16:22
Yes, Rick, a “risk” here is the discovery of the low quality of the reputation feeds. I think that’s a success of what we’re doing here and provides a leverage point for us. It’ll be evidenced based and thus have greater credibility.
Kristine Dorrain (Amazon Registry)
01:20:55
I like that idea. Not just a quick update, but a deeper dive.
Kristine Dorrain (Amazon Registry)
01:20:58
It's time.
Rick Wilhelm (Verisign)
01:21:49
is that weighting of feeds made public? (I don’t recall)
Kristine Dorrain (Amazon Registry)
01:22:56
I'm late for another call. Let me know if there are any action items besides what we discussed. Thanks all!
Dietmar Lenden - SKY
01:23:16
Thanks all - that was a productive call - be safe
Sean Baseri - Neustar
01:23:27
Thanks all
