The Name Collision Analysis Project will also hold a session on Friday, November 1 in the afternoon. I assume this session is public. Please confirm.

@Anne, Friday meetings (on so-called Day Zero) are usually meant for specific teams and groups to meet privately, since the ICANN Public Meeting only begins on Saturday. While I don’t have any specific knowledge, I assume that the Friday meetings are closed, including for the NCAP group.

Thanks Mary. I am a member of the NCAP Discussion Group and will be attending. I assumed the meeting was public because Discussion Group members are not limited to technical experts. So it would be surprising if this meeting is closed.

For those who don't know, name collisions are an important "gating" issue relative to the next round of gTLD applications since the SSAC has formally recommended to the ICANN Board that no new names be added to the root until name collision risk is more fully assessed. That is why the Board commissioned the Name Collision Analysis Project (NCAP) which is being supervised by ICANN's Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO).
